YUNCHU CHIU is a puppet designer and maker from Taiwan, currently based between Japan and the UK. Since moving to Japan in 2010, her artistic practice has been deeply shaped by the intersection of Taiwanese and Japanese cultural influences.

She studied Scenography at Musashino Art University and, after graduating in 2021, spent three years working backstage in theatres across Japan as an assistant stage manager, prop maker, and wardrobe manager. These experiences developed her understanding of materiality, movement, and theatrical storytelling, which now inform her puppet-making practice.

In 2025, she participated in an International Program in Scenography in Romania. In 2026, she completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Puppet Design at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Her current work focuses on puppetry, combining design, fabrication, and performance-oriented visual storytelling.

YUNCHU CHIU（邱筠筑）は、台湾出身のパペットデザイナー／制作者。2010年に来日し、台湾と日本という二つの文化背景の中で創作活動を発展させてきた。

武蔵野美術大学で空間演出デザインを学び、2021年卒業後は日本各地の劇場にて舞台監督助手、小道具製作、衣裳管理など舞台裏方として3年間活動。現場経験を通して培った身体感覚と舞台美術への視点を基盤に、人形表現へと活動領域を広げる。

2025年にはルーマニアで開催された国際セノグラフィープログラムに参加し、アートレジデンスを経験。2026年、英国の王立ウェールズ音楽演劇大学（Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama）パペットデザイン専攻準修士課程を修了。現在は人形劇を中心に、デザインおよび制作を行っている。
